20 years of Microsoft in Serbia

Microsoft marked 20 years of operations in Serbia with a meeting with the media, where the director of Microsoft Serbia, Milan Gospić, and the director of the Microsoft Development Center in Serbia, Dražen Šumić, gave an overview of the company’s influence on Serbia and the domestic market over two decades.

They talked about how the company contributed to the technological progress and innovation of Serbian companies and organizations and society as a whole, sharing knowledge and expertise and opening jobs, through partnerships and cooperation with local organizations, as well as how it all contributed to the growth and development of the Serbian IT industry.

“The position of the Microsoft company, which has both commercial and development teams in our country, affects the digital economy of the country and the development of human capital, and builds enormous potential for Serbia. For 20 years in Serbia, Microsoft has been committed to the digitalization of society and industry, providing the most modern technology, bringing experiences and practices from global markets and developing local talents and digital skills,” the company’s official announcement reads.

Almost 700 employees and eight engineering teams work in the Microsoft development center in Serbia to develop and improve some of the most important Microsoft products, such as cloud services and the development of generative artificial intelligence.

“By organizing the first Synergia in 2001, we recognized the enormous talent and potential of the Serbian IT community. Since then, we have been dedicated to digitizing and empowering organizations to harness the power of technology for growth and innovation. For these 20 years, digital transformation has been the fundamental mission of Microsoft in Serbia. Our advanced technologies, knowledge and expertise give us the responsibility to be at the forefront of shaping the digital image of Serbia. We are entering a new digital era, the era of the use of artificial intelligence, with the aim that technology is always available to everyone and empowers individuals and organizations to achieve more”, emphasized Milan Gospić at the meeting with the media.

All software projects that take place in the Microsoft development center in Serbia are widely recognized, both at the highest level of the corporation, and by millions of users who apply them every day, promoting and marking Serbia as an important IT destination.

“Microsoft is a global company with development centers all over the world, and the Development Center in Serbia stands out for its innovative solutions and talented people. Our recipe is to rely on the extraordinary potential of highly educated people in Serbia and the region,” said Dražen Šumić.
