The epidemic dictates the movements on the market of petroleum products in Serbia

The weakening of the corona virus has increased the demand and sales of petroleum products, so it is even higher in Serbia this year than in 2019, before the epidemic, and the prices of oil and petroleum products have reached levels close to before the corona, said the editor of Energija Balkana, Jelica Putnikovic.
She explains for Tanjug that this is happening not only in Serbia, but in the whole world, and as an interesting statement she states that the American administration, in order to stop the rise in oil prices, has started negotiations with OPEC to increase the members of this association of oil exporting countries for production and marketing of crude oil.
“America is doing that, known for the fact that its drivers do not really save fuel, but consume large quantities of oil derivatives, all in order to stop the rise in the price of crude oil and thus actually reduce the price of fuel,” says Putnikovic.
She adds, however, that it is very debatable how much it will be necessary to increase the supply that the Americans are looking for, because the International Energy Agency changed its earlier forecast and in the latest says that the increase in consumption and demand for oil will be smaller than previously planned.
All this shows how difficult it is in the current circumstances caused by the corona virus to plan and predict what will happen on this market and how much fuel will cost in the coming period.
“Since we already have the fourth wave of the corona, the question is what will be the situation with travel and fuel consumption, so it is very difficult to predict what will happen in two weeks, let alone give a forecast for longer. Our health authorities are announcing some stricter measures. For example, bans on larger gatherings, we can expect that there will be less travel, and that will affect the reduced oil consumption and reflect on the price of fuel,” explains Jelica Putnikovic, Tanjug reports.
