The head of the EU delegation in Serbia, Vincent Degert, did not rule out the possibility of the IMF visiting Serbia again if they decide Serbia was ready to resolve the current problems. There were some measures related to incomes, but public spending is still very high, which means that the deficit is high as well, said Degert, on the occasion of the European Mobility Week in Belgrade. He said the IMF representatives had not come to negotiate, but to collect facts, to see if new measures will be applied and how.

The IMF mission is not satisfied with the draft budget rebalance for 2012 and recommended additional cutdowns on spending before the Serbian Parliament adopts the budget. The government’s deficit-related goal for 2013 is generally adequate, but its realization will require additional measures, the IMF mission announced after a five-day visit to Serbia.
