Traffic Minister Milutin Mrkonjić said that the purpose of the Russian loan of 800 million dollars for the development of Serbian railways had not changed.
The projects to be covered by the loan have been prepared and precise agreements have been made, he said. No one has said that part of the loan will go to the budget, he told agency Tanjug. He said that early March would saw the first works on the construction of the second track of the Belgrade-Pančevo railways, to be financed with the Russian loan. Speaking of road infrastructure, he said foreign investors were interested in our projects. Chinese companies are interested in the construction of Corridor 11 – a motorway from Belgrade to the Montenegrin border, but no concrete agreements have been made so far. As for the national airliner, Jat, Mrkonjić said the present government shared the view of the previous one – that Serbia should have its own airliner, either independently or in partnership with a foreign airliner.
