Air Serbia has said it will put greater emphasis on the Asia Pacific and Australasia markets with the establishment of a newly created position of Vice President in charge of Asia Pacific, as well as the selection of a General Sales Agent (GSA) for Australia and New Zealand. The Serbian carrier says it has appointed Stevan Šipka, who will be based in Sydney, as its new Vice President for Asia Pacific where he will have overall responsibility for Air Serbia’s expanded commercial operations in the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Šipka has previously worked with both Qantas and Virgin Australia. At Qantas he held the positions of Commercial Manager for Asia and General Manager Alliances for Asia. Immediately prior to joining Air Serbia he worked for Virgin Australia as General Manager for Revenue Planning. Air Serbia’s CEO, Dane Kondić, said, ”We are delighted to welcome Stevan to the newly created position of Vice President Asia Pacific, where his commercial skills and experience in the aviation industry, combined with knowledge of Air Serbia’s business will be invaluable to us”. He added, “Stevan’s appointment, combined with securing Aviation Online as our GSA, is recognition of the importance of the Australasia market – home to more than 100.000 people from the Serbian diaspora. We aim to grow our profile and offer more choice for our guests in the Asia Pacific region”. Anthony Cassar, Managing Director of Aviation Online, said, “We will reintroduce Belgrade as an affordable and convenient gateway to Europe, and build greater awareness of Air Serbia as the airline of choice to Serbia and beyond”. Air Serbia codeshares on Etihad Airways flights from Abu Dhabi to Sydney, Melborune, Brisbane and Perth and vice versa.
