A joint Chinese-Serbian laboratory for natural products and the discovery of new medicines has been formed, it is stated on the Government’s website.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development announced that this is of exceptional importance for Serbia and the Balkan region and a big step in strengthening the cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Serbia.
The “One Belt – One Road” laboratory of the Shanghai Materia Medica Institute and the Sinisa Stankovic Institute for Biological Research from Belgrade will be led by representatives of China and Serbia.
The concept of establishing a joint laboratory unites research capacities for the development of the application of natural products in various spheres, primarily in finding new drugs and medical products based on natural resources, while preserving biological diversity and ensuring sustainable development, it is explained.
In addition to the optimal use of scientific research staff, the work of the laboratory will also ensure the improvement of the research infrastructure, it is stated in the announcement, eKapija reports.
