The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, announced that the cornerstone for the hydroelectric power plant “Buk Bijela” on the Drina will be laid on May 17, and that a joint session of the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska will be held in Banja Luka on that day.
Brnabic also said that the construction of the airport in Trebinje should start next year, and that Serbia has allocated significant funds for the expropriation of land.
She said that in the parliament when asked by SNS MP Milimir Vujadinovic when the works on the construction of that airport will begin, talking about help and cooperation with the Republika Srpska.
Brnabic also stated that the “Bratoljub” bridge between Ljubovija and Bratunac should be opened at the end of July or in August.
“I sincerely hope that we will finally open that bridge at the end of July or in August, which we completed on our side in 2017. We were waiting for the opening of the border crossing. That bridge will mean a lot to people on both sides of the bridge,” Brnabic said.
She also announced that a joint session of the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska would be held on May 17.
“We took a break for over a year because of the corona, and now that the situation has stabilized, we are going to Banja Luka on May 17, for a joint session, to start the dynamics around numerous projects,” said Brnabic.
In that sense, she stated that the cornerstone for the hydroelectric power plant “Buk Bijela” will be laid on May 17, which, she says, is a strategic project “which we care about a lot”.
When it comes to the Trebinje airport, which is extremely important, Brnabic expressed hope that construction will start next year.
“We have set aside significant funds for expropriation. The airport will be owned by Serbia,” Brnabic said, adding that the project of automated anti-hail protection is also important.
One of the topics of the joint session of the governments will be the opening of border industrial zones.
She reminded that Serbia also supports the four municipalities of Dubica, Kostajnica, Drvar and Nevesinje.
“A lot has been done and I am proud to have been the Prime Minister when a new holiday was established on the initiative of Aleksandar Vucic and Milorad Dodik, the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, September 15, in memory of the Thessaloniki Front. I am proud of everything we did,” Brnabic said.
She pointed out that peace is the most important thing for us at this moment and that nothing should compromise peace, which is necessary for further development and progress.
“We are doing well, it did not fall from the sky, it is the result of brave work and we must not stop. Our only message is peace, which is needed by the entire Balkans and our policy always follows our words, and we could see that now that no one in the region had vaccines, we selflessly and in solidarity shared ours,” said Brnabic.
She also stated that she had recently talked with Vucic about the construction of the Science and Technology Park in Sarajevo, adding that she would like us to work on such projects with some other nations as well.
“I would like to be able to talk with Pristina, when they introduced 100 percent taxes, putting an ethnic sign on groceries, how to build a park, digitalize schools, something that will mean a different future. But we didn’t have an interlocutor from that side,” said Brnabic.
She said that Serbia will continue to spread the policy of peace and cooperation, understanding, because that is the only way to move forward.
“Serbia is interested in peace, stability, dialogue, understanding and cooperation,” Brnabic concluded.
The Minister of Infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, said that funds had been set aside for the expropriation of land, which should start in the fall, while, as he says, he is counting on a building permit by the end of the year.
He stated that the communication with the representatives of BiH, at the central level, about the control of the sky over the future airport of Trebinje has begun.
“We do not want to finance the airport without third party control of the sky, not Serbia, not BiH, but Croatia. We want to support BiH to control the sky over its country. If not, then SMATSA can. We have opened a complex issue, which is both political and strategic and we plan to resolve it in the next year in order to protect Serbia’s property in RS,” Momirovic said, Nezavisne reports.
