According to the Spatial Plan of Serbia from 2021 to 2035, published by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, our country will get two new international airports – one near Dobanovci, and the other near Novi Sad!
Namely, as it is stated, due to the space limitation at the existing location of the airport in Belgrade, a new location is planned 10 km west of Nikola Tesla Airport, 24 km from Belgrade in the immediate vicinity of the E70 highway on the route Grmovac – Dobanovci – Dec.
The complex should have an area of about 1,100 ha, with three runways, two passenger terminals, two freight terminals, a logistics and free customs zone, modern navigation equipment and a light marking system and the Airport Code 4F.
When it comes to Novi Sad, construction is planned on a location located about 15 km southeast of the largest city in the north of our country, near the A1 highway, on the stretch Kovilj – Sajkas – Budisava, with an area of about 300 ha and airport code 4E.
The immediate vicinity of the railway represents a perspective for the development of freight, multimodal transport, it is stated in the documentation.
Existing airports
The existing complex of Nikola Tesla Airport in Surcin will get new traffic and infrastructure facilities, and the reconstruction and extension of the existing facilities is also planned. The documentation also states the spatial tracing and technical definition of connections with railways and roads and the city transport system, the formation of cargo complexes and the improvement of existing and construction of new airport facilities in order to increase capacity, in line with expected growth in passenger numbers and freight transport.
At the Constantine the Great Airport in Nis, activities are planned to improve services by building a new and reconstructing the existing infrastructure, in order to give the airport the status of an intermodal center.
When it comes to the Morava airport in Kraljevo, the construction of a new and reconstruction of the existing infrastructure is planned, in order to properly position the purpose, content, facilities and the way of connecting the airport to the planned highway network (Moravian Corridor) and others.
Pristina Airport is expected to build new and reconstruct existing infrastructure. It is also planned to improve regional connections by establishing the required volume of traffic on the route Belgrade – Pristina.
The draft Spatial Plan of Serbia until 2035 is in public view from Monday, eKapija reports.
