A farewell ceremony was held for Air Serbia’s first direct flight to Shanghai at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport, attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

Flights from Belgrade to Shanghai will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays during the winter season, and in the summer season starting March 30, while flights in the opposite direction will be on Wednesdays and Sundays, as reported by Beta. Vučić stated that the launch of Air Serbia’s first direct flight to Shanghai marks not only a year of exceptional success for the national airline but also demonstrates how hard work and diligence can overcome challenges and achieve great successes.

He emphasized that in 2024, Air Serbia broke all records, transporting 4.4 million people.

“Serbia is the only country in the region, from the former Yugoslavia and from Hungary to Greece, that has its own national carrier flying to destinations like New York, Chicago, Tianjin, Guangzhou in China, and now Shanghai. We are still working on new destinations, including Miami, Toronto, and Seoul,” said Vučić.

He also pointed out that Air Serbia has brought a profit to Serbia for the second or third consecutive year, amounting to 702 million euros. He thanked the Chinese Ambassador Li Ming for the support China has provided to Serbia.
