Flag carrier Air Serbia said it has postponed for the time being the launch of a twice-weekly service connecting the country’s capital Belgrade to Switzerland’s Geneva, originally scheduled for March 25.
Air Serbia has transferred its capacities, originally intended for flights to Geneva, to charter operations, which attracted record-high demand last year, Air Serbia said in a statement on Friday.
“In deciding to postpone the start of services to Geneva the company was guided by the fact that it already operates flights to Zurich and that charter flights present, from a financial aspect, a lower investment risk and a more efficient use of resources,” the company said.
Serbia’s flag carrier said in December it plans to start a twice-weekly Belgrade-Geneva service on March 25, to be operated on Thursdays and Sundays with a 144-seat Airbus A319 aircraft.
Information about the start of services to Geneva, which will be Air Serbia’s second destination in Switzerland after Zurich, will be provided in due time, the company said.
