Air Serbia reported a net profit of 9.5 million euros for 2019

The National Airline of Serbia announced today that it made a net profit of 9.5 million euros in 2019.
– With the continuation of business improvement during 2018, as well as the largest expansion of the network so far with a total of 23 new destinations, in the sixth year of business we reported a net profit of 9.5 million euros. 2.81 million passengers were transported, the capacity for passenger transport, expressed as a product of the number of available seats and the total number of kilometers traveled (Available Seat Kilometers – ASK), was increased to 4.45 billion – it is stated in the announcement of Air Serbia.
It is further stated that a new record of charter traffic has been set, from which revenues are a quarter (by an additional 24.17 percent, to 25.7 million euros) higher than in 2018.
– In a year, 23 new destinations have been opened, with the launch of traffic from two new airports in Serbia – Nis and Kraljevo.
Last year, revenues continued to grow in the area of sales of additional services, by 27.54 percent compared to 2018.
The total number of passengers transported in 2019 is 2.81 million. At the end of October last year, Air Serbia celebrated another historic moment and welcomed its jubilee 15 millionth passenger in six years of business. Capacity for passenger transport, expressed as a product of available number of seats and total kilometers traveled (Available Seat Kilometers – ASK) is 4.45 billion, which is an increase of 428 million, compared to the previous year.
In 2019, the charter brand Aviolet performed a record 2,286 flights, out of a total of 33,322 realized operations of the company.
The growth of all operational indicators in 2019, including the financial results of operations, shows that the continued implementation of measures for the improvement and optimization of operations from 2018 gave positive results. Air Serbia strives to adapt and change for the better, has reacted effectively to take advantage of significant market opportunities, promoted sustainable business practices and further strengthened its status as a leader in the region.
During the first months of 2020, Air Serbia continued to grow, so in January and February it recorded over 20 percent more passengers, compared to the same months last year. Since mid-March, due to the Corona virus pandemic, commercial passenger air traffic has been suspended. The gradual resumption of flights began on May 21, and since then it has been continuously adjusting to travel restrictions and flight bans. In the meantime, Air Serbia continues to develop innovative projects in the interest of passengers, primarily with digitalization and personalization of products, in accordance with the long-term strategy and world trends in the aviation industry. Thus, only in July this year, a new mobile application of Air Serbia was launched, as well as the projects “Flight Pass” and “Keep Boarding” – it is stated in the announcement, Tangosix reports.
