All companies of the NEXE business system, including Polet ad Novi Becej, have been working for years on modernization and improvement of processes, products, energy efficiency, with a focus on environmental protection in the entire production process, and business is in line with legal regulations, NEXE reports.
Member of the business system NEXE, Polet a.d. Novi Becej announced itself in connection with the announcement of the Association of Citizens “Karlovac Vineyards”, on the occasion of the petition initiated by that Association.
Karlovac Vineyards, among other things, demand the suspension of the expansion of the exploitation zone, as well as the ban on the use of petroleum coke and other “dirty” energy sources in the work of the brickyard AD Polet Becej, IGM Strazilovo plant.
The statement states that the Strazilovo brick factory in Sremski Karlovci is “the leader of the brick industry in Serbia, as the first factory with a built-in filter.”
“In addition, production is continuously working to improve energy efficiency, so data on primary energy consumption in Strazilovo’s production show a decreasing trend of 14.5 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year. The average reduction in the past five years is almost 2,5 percent per year,” the statement added.
Also, they report from this company, the energy indicator for fuel energy consumption in the last five years shows a decreasing trend of 3.1 percent, while the energy indicator for electricity consumption in the last five years shows an average decrease of 1 percent per year.
The director of the company, Majda Petkovic, said that the company’s priority is to improve the process by applying new technological solutions that minimize the impact on the environment.
She said that almost 55 million euros have been invested in the company NEXE since 2003, of which more than 16 million in the production of bricks in Sremski Karlovci.
“Also, we are in the process of drafting a new Mining Project, which will be fully harmonized with the spatial plan which defines the field reserved for the exploitation of mineral resources, and everything is in accordance with the decisions of the Provincial Secretariat for Energy and Mineral Resources from 2004 and its amendments from 2011. The mining project will define all requirements related to the exploitation of raw materials and elaborate directions, both for the reclamation of the area where the exploitation was performed, and all processes with the aim of further improving environmental protection in all aspects,” said Petkovic.
Polet a.d. Novi Becej in its plant Strazilovo in Sremski Karlovci is engaged in the production of bricks. The website of the NEXE business system states that the Strazilovo Plant in Sremski Karlovci is the largest producer of bricks and the first producer of a large-format Euro block in Serbia.
NEXE is a business system of 15 companies operating in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the company’s website.
The main activity is the production of building materials: cement, concrete, aggregates, concrete elements, bricks, tiles and ceramic tiles.
The petition of “Karlovac Vineyards” states that the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci allowed an “industrial zone” to appear on the banks of the Danube, in the famous vineyards and on the edge of the Fruska Gora National Park.
The problem, as they say, lasts and grows for more than a decade and was actualized by the request of a brickyard owned by the Croatian NEXE group to change the purpose of agricultural and vineyard land in favor of clay exploitation, because they want to expand to about 70 hectares of the most beautiful stretch along the Danube, Nova Ekonomija reports.
