Annual inflation in Serbia slowed to 11.5 percent

Year-on-year inflation in Serbia in August was 11.5 percent and monthly inflation was 0.4 percent, the Republic Statistical Office announced today.

Compared to December 2022, the prices of personal consumption products and services, which measure inflation, increased by 6.4 percent.

Looking at the main groups of products and services classified according to the purpose of consumption, in August this year compared to the previous month, price growth was recorded in the groups transport (2.8 percent), recreation and culture (1.6 percent), restaurants and hotels ( 0.7 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.6 percent) and health (0.2 percent).

The drop in prices was recorded in the groups food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.5 percent), clothing and footwear (0.3 percent) and communications (0.1 percent).

Seen on an annual basis, the price of vegetables increased the most from food (34.5 percent), followed by milk, cheese and eggs (25.5 percent). From communal services – waste water disposal rose in price by 20.2 percent, and household electricity by 21.6 percent.

The drop in prices compared to the same period last year was recorded by passenger transport (-3.6 percent), and audio-visual equipment (-3.5 percent).
