Snežana Paunović, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, stated during a session of the National Assembly of Serbia that the average salary of civil servants in October was 93,936 dinars, dismissing opposition claims that salaries are low, around 69,000 dinars.
During the parliamentary discussion, Paunović emphasized that the current session includes amendments to the Law on Civil Servants, driven by the government’s goal to improve their status.
“I am not, and cannot be, a minister who claims the status of civil servants is ideal. But in the first seven months of my mandate, I have focused on addressing their situation, together with the Ministry of Finance. We don’t have a magic wand to solve everything overnight, but we understand that it is essential to give young professionals the chance to pursue careers in public administration, ensuring their energy, ideas, and enthusiasm are implemented in the public sector,” Paunović said.
Svetlana Milijić, from the parliamentary group “Aleksandar Vučić – Serbia Must Not Stop,” congratulated the ruling party on their victories in the local elections in Sečanj, Negotin, and Mionica. She also highlighted that the military budget for next year is the largest ever, totaling €2.37 billion.
“A strong army means a strong Serbia. The military has always been a pillar of the Serbian state,” Milijić stated.
Željko Veselinović, from the parliamentary group “Workers’ Movement Sloga-Profession,” spoke about the situation in Apoteke Beograd (Belgrade Pharmacies), expressing support for keeping them under the ownership of the City of Belgrade.
