The Belgrade City Transport Company (GSP) has announced a new tender for purchasing compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, with an estimated value of 7.7 billion dinars. The public invitation is expected to be published around August 18, detailing the number of buses and required specifications.
Earlier this year, GSP initiated tenders for 170 solo buses, 130 articulated buses, and 100 trams. However, these tenders faced suspensions: the tram tender was suspended due to bidder feedback on technical requirements, while tenders for buses were halted because of legal complaints by participants regarding procurement procedures.
The total budget for these vehicle procurements is approximately 35 billion dinars, which covers multiple purchases collectively. Originally, the bus purchases were planned to be financed via leasing, but after bidder feedback, GSP revised the financing model to allow loans to increase participation.
Separately, GSP finalized a contract in June 2024 with Turkish manufacturer Bozankaya to supply 25 trams worth nearly 7.9 billion dinars. The first tram was unveiled on July 29, with 20 more expected by the end of the year and the full fleet by March next year.
