Nikola Jovanović, director of the Belgrade Center for Local Self-Government (CLS), announced plans to create a blacklist of contractors who fail to meet professional standards or contractual obligations in city projects.

According to Jovanović, companies that deliver poor-quality work, miss deadlines, or breach contracts will receive negative points in all public tenders announced by the city or its public utilities. Repeated offenders may face bans from participating in future tenders.

The CLS expert teams are currently drafting the registry of negligent contractors, which is expected to be presented in October. Prior to the launch, consultations will be held with chambers, academic experts, and other stakeholders.

Jovanović emphasized that this registry will serve as a crucial tool not only for the current city administration but also for future governments, aiming to prevent failures like those seen in the reconstruction of Republic Square and the expansion of Patriarch Pavle Boulevard.
