The China Chamber of Commerce, which brings together over 300,000 companies, will soon open a representative office in Belgrade, its president Ren Hongbin confirmed during a meeting with Marko Čadež, president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), in Beijing.
Hongbin announced that the formal procedure for establishing the Chinese chamber’s office in Serbia has already begun. Čadež said that this move opens significant new opportunities for cooperation between Serbian and Chinese businesses.
He emphasized that Serbia is recognized as a major regional hub for innovation, startups, and IT, and aims to position itself as a “smart crossroads” within China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
During their discussions, the two officials also addressed China’s participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade, where Hongbin is overseeing the country’s preparations. The Chinese pavilion is expected to be one of the most prominent exhibits.
Čadež added that further talks are planned in China in three weeks to discuss the “Land and Sea International Trade Corridor”, of which Serbia is a founding member along with 18 other countries. Serbia will coordinate digital cooperation projects among institutes, accelerators, and startups within the initiative.
The China Chamber of Commerce operates under the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and includes major state-owned enterprises, financial institutions, and private companies, with a network of more than 800 local and industry associations across China, making it one of the most influential business organizations in the world.
