The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Serbia, Li Ming, stated that the relationship between China and Serbia has reached a new historical high, setting standards and serving as a model for both Europe and the wider world.

Ambassador Li recalled that in May of last year, during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Serbia, the two countries announced the establishment of a “community of China and Serbia with a shared future.” This declaration marked Serbia as the first European country to formally build such a community with China.

During that visit, the two nations signed and exchanged 28 documents aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. China also proposed the first six key measures to deepen this partnership, providing a significant boost to practical collaboration between the two countries.

Speaking at the opening of the “High-Level Dialogue” conference organized by the Belt and Road Institute, Ambassador Li emphasized that over the past year, under the strategic leadership of Presidents Xi Jinping and Aleksandar Vučić, China and Serbia have deepened their political trust and enhanced mutually beneficial cooperation and exchanges. This has opened a new chapter in their joint progress and development.

Amid accelerating global changes and numerous challenges, Ambassador Li highlighted that China and Serbia steadfastly support each other on issues of vital national interest and common concern. The two countries coordinate closely in international multilateral forums, demonstrating the strength and resilience of their “steel friendship.”

Furthermore, he noted Serbia’s active support for three global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and its participation in the comprehensive and high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Together, China and Serbia oppose unilateralism, promote multilateralism, and defend international fairness and justice—efforts that have elevated mutual political trust to unprecedented levels.

Ambassador Li also expressed gratitude to the Belt and Road Institute and to Miloš Vučević, president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), for their ongoing support in fostering the development of relations between the two countries.
