The Chinese Innovation Park Suzhou is exploring the possibility of establishing a Business Center in Serbia, aimed at supporting Chinese companies looking to expand their operations and offer innovative solutions to foreign markets. The center would also facilitate cooperation with Serbian businesses, fostering knowledge exchange and advanced technological partnerships. This was discussed today during a meeting between Marko Čadež, the president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), and a delegation from Suzhou led by Gina Zhang, head of the Investment Promotion Committee of the Innovation Park.
Čadež highlighted the interest of PKS in organizing a showroom for Serbian products and companies within this innovative supercluster, which hosts around 1.3 million people and approximately 100,000 companies. He described these efforts as the first major steps toward connecting the innovation ecosystems of both Serbia and China. Additionally, the PKS delegation is scheduled to visit Suzhou at the end of February to prepare for a business forum dedicated to innovation. The forum will take place in Serbia in April during the visit of Suzhou’s president to the country.
Suzhou, located in Jiangsu province approximately 100 kilometers west of Shanghai, has become one of China’s most successful and renowned economic development zones. The city is recognized for its cutting-edge infrastructure, strategic planning, and focus on innovation and technology. With 12 international centers, Suzhou’s GDP reached $50 billion last year, making it a hub for foreign direct investment and a key base for China’s export industries.
During the final day of the PKS delegation’s visit to China, they also visited the headquarters of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), a leading Fortune 500 company. The meeting with Zhou Xiongwe, CETC’s executive vice president, explored potential areas of cooperation, and plans are in place to organize a visit of CETC’s team to Serbia in the coming months. CETC is one of China’s top state-owned conglomerates, specializing in electronics, information systems, artificial intelligence, radar technology, smart cities, cybersecurity, and ICT, making it a significant player in the country’s technological advancement.
