The Center for Local Self-Government (CLS) has questioned Belgrade city authorities on the progress of the metro construction, noting that this month marks the fourth year since the establishment of the public company “Belgrade Metro,” yet no physical construction has begun.
CLS Director Nikola Jovanović publicly asked company head Andreja Mladenović how many kilometers of the metro have been built. He criticized Mladenović for leading a company with 85 employees, costing the city budget 244 million dinars in salaries this year, while earning a net salary of 280,000 dinars himself.
Jovanović reminded that, according to the official metro construction plan announced by Minister Siniša Mali in November 2021, tunnel and station construction was supposed to begin in December 2023. He accused Mladenović of having achieved nothing during his tenure and said the Belgrade metro project has become a subject of ridicule.
