The Center for Local Self-Government (CLS) has urged Belgrade city authorities and Belgrade Power Plants to cancel the planned 6.4% increase in heating prices. CLS Director Nikola Jovanović stated that the increase is unjustified, noting that Belgrade Power Plants are expected to earn a profit of 66.5 million dinars this year.

He also highlighted that between 2014 and 2023, the company recorded a net profit of 37 billion dinars. Jovanović emphasized that there are opportunities for cost savings within the company, including plans to hire 20 new employees this year, and stressed that poor management and the city’s financial challenges should not be passed on to ordinary citizens.
