A consortium of seven companies has been awarded a contract worth approximately €8.3 million (981 million dinars) to supervise the construction of the New Belgrade railway station complex and the reconstruction of the bridge structure.

The consortium includes Serbian firms AG Institut (Novi Sad), Railway Junction Belgrade construction company, Meridian Project surveying bureau (Novi Sad), and Sour Engineering (Sremski Karlovci). It also includes three foreign companies: SGS Inspecciones Reglamentarias (Spain), Infraceret TSI (Poland), and its authorized representative Infraceret d.o.o (Croatia).

The contract was awarded by the Ministry of Construction through a public procurement process for supervision services.

Another bidder, Kapa Projekt from Niš, was rejected for failing to provide a bid security and for exceeding the estimated project value.

The supervision service is scheduled to last until December 31, 2026.

The project includes redevelopment of the station access zone, construction of a public parking lot, six elevators, a 1,480 square meter canopy, ticket offices, and containers. Below the station platform is a building used as a temporary ticket office, originally built for the New Belgrade bus station.

The location permit for the second phase of the complex was initially issued in September but amended in March to expand the project scope, introduce phased construction, and change the investor from Serbian Railways Infrastructure to the Ministry of Construction.

Planned construction includes the station building, vestibule, a connecting structure between railway and bus stations, station square, a new canopy over the platforms, and a park in front of the NCR.

The main contractor for the construction and bridge reconstruction is the Chinese company China Shandong International Economic, with a total contract value of €138 million. The project is led by the Government and the Ministry of Construction.
