Finance Minister Siniša Mali visited the start of construction for the new Savski Bridge in Belgrade. The bridge will span 420 meters in length and 38–42 meters in width, with two vehicle lanes in each direction, tram tracks, and pedestrian and bicycle paths. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and aims to resolve a major traffic bottleneck in the city.
The old bridge will be preserved and relocated, while the new bridge will feature six pillars and a main steel span of 166 meters. The wider river clearance will improve navigation. Steel components for the bridge are arriving from China.
Other major projects include a new Belgrade Aquarium with 45 thematic pools, an 85-meter-tall flagpole, extended riverfront promenades, and five new museums, including the Historical Museum, Nikola Tesla Museum, and Archaeological Museum. A new tunnel connecting the Faculty of Economics to Savski Bridge is also planned.
Mali highlighted the high-speed railway from Belgrade to Subotica, capable of 200 km/h, as another priority infrastructure project. He also emphasized ongoing economic measures to control prices and improve citizens’ living standards.
The city aims to complete these projects before Expo 2027, with an expected three million visitors, marking a major step in Belgrade’s modernization and Serbia’s overall development.
