The Chinese company SHAC (Shanghai Huizhong Automotive Manufacturing) is set to begin the construction of its first European factory in Novi Sad, Serbia, with an investment of around EUR 40 million. The factory will focus on the production of chassis.
In the first phase of development, the factory is expected to employ 200 workers, with 50% of them being highly educated and 20% having medium-level education.
Novi Sad’s mayor, Žarko Mićin, highlighted the significance of this investment, noting that it is a major step in continuing the positive trend of attracting foreign investments to the city. Novi Sad has seen the opening of 14 factories in the past 13 years. Mićin further emphasized that partnering with renowned brands like SHAC will enhance the city’s global standing.
SHAC, based in Shanghai, has already secured agreements with Germany’s BMW, and the factory is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The first series deliveries to European customers are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
SHAC, founded in 1992, manufactures and markets heavy-duty trucks, buses, sound-lighting vans, and minibuses. The company’s roots in truck production trace back to 1958, when the first vehicle of its type was assembled in China.
