The construction of the Vetrozelena wind farm will soon begin in the city of Pančevo, a project being carried out by the Chinese company Power Construction Corporation of China Resources (PowerChina Resources). With an installed capacity of 300 MW, this investment will provide green energy to approximately 180,000 residents.
Maja Gojković, the President of the Provincial Government, stated during a meeting with representatives from the Chinese company that this is a significant investment. She emphasized that the Provincial Government will contribute to and support the realization of this project to ensure the conditions for construction are met.
Jang Tianfu, the General Director of PowerChina Resources, expressed his belief that the Vetrozelena wind farm will have a positive impact on the country’s economy.
The Vetrozelena wind farm will be located about 40 kilometers northeast of Belgrade, within the Pančevo municipality, specifically in the cadastral areas of Dolovo and Banatsko Novo Selo. According to the official project website, the wind farm is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2026. PowerChina Resources is the strategic partner in this project, collaborating with CWP Europe, one of the leaders in renewable energy project development in Serbia and the region.
Vetrozelena will be the second renewable energy project being developed by CWP in the country, following the Čibuk wind farm (158 MW installed capacity). The Vetrozelena project will be twice as large, with an installed capacity of 300 MW and 48 wind turbines.
The production of green electricity from the wind farm will reduce CO2 emissions by 820,000 tons annually, supporting Serbia’s energy transition goals.
