Construction progress on EXPO 2027 site in Surčin moving forward as planned

Serbia’s Finance Minister, Siniša Mali, visited the construction site in Surčin this morning, where the International Specialized EXPO 2027 will be held, and provided an update on the progress of the works. He confirmed that the project is progressing on schedule and all challenges are being addressed promptly to ensure the venue is completed by December 1, 2026.

“We began the workweek with a regular meeting at the Surčin site, where the EXPO 2027 will take place, an event Serbia will proudly host. We meet regularly to assess progress, address any open issues, and resolve problems swiftly,” Mali shared on his Instagram account.

Mali emphasized that the construction is proceeding according to plan, with all tasks on track to meet the established deadlines. “We immediately respond to any challenges that arise, resolve them, and continue moving forward because we cannot afford delays,” he added.

He highlighted that hosting the EXPO 2027 is a historic opportunity for Serbia and one that must not be missed. “Every detail of this prestigious event is being handled with the utmost seriousness and responsibility because there is no room for error,” Mali stated.

So far, 82 countries have confirmed their participation, and Serbia expects more than 120 countries to be involved. Mali expressed confidence that the event will significantly contribute to Serbia’s progress, serving as a catalyst for growth and strengthening economic activities. “EXPO 2027 will play a pivotal role in furthering the development of Serbia, enhancing the quality of life for its citizens, and advancing the country’s modernization efforts,” concluded Mali.
