A consortium led by CRDC – China Railway Design Corporation, Belgrade branch (China Railway Design Corporation Serbia), has been selected for the preparation of the design and technical documentation for line 3 of the Belgrade metro, as announced by JKP Belgrade Metro and Train.
The consortium also includes the renowned companies Luis Berger doo and Ko dizajn doo Belgrade, supported by domestic subcontractors. The contract, titled “Development of project-technical documentation: Feasibility study with conceptual design and environmental impact assessment study for line 3 of the Belgrade metro,” was signed yesterday by JKP Belgrade Metro and Train Director Andreja Mladenović, City of Belgrade Public Transport Secretary Radovan Kremić, and Jen Džongjin, on behalf of CRDC Serbia.
The contract is valued at 2.28 billion dinars excluding VAT (2,742,480,000.04 dinars including VAT), which is significantly lower than the estimated value of 2.95 billion dinars excluding VAT, as initially estimated by JKP Belgrade Metro and Train.
According to the announcement, the selection process was transparent and professional, attracting bids from top domestic and foreign companies in metro system design. Four bids were submitted, and the winning bidder received the highest rating. CRDC, with over 70 years of experience, is a leading design company in the railway, urban, and traffic engineering sectors. The company has designed over 46,000 kilometers of railways, including 11,000 kilometers of high-speed rail, metro lines, and transport hubs in numerous cities. It is certified according to ISO9001 standards for quality, occupational safety, and environmental protection.
CRDC’s experience with infrastructure projects in Serbia further ensures high-quality and professional preparation of the feasibility study, conceptual design, and environmental impact assessment for Belgrade’s future metro line 3.
The proposed conceptual design for line 3 includes a route from Bežania to Banjica, with an extension to the future BIO4 campus. The entire route, which will consist of 22 stops, will have a travel time of 38 minutes. Key intersections are planned at Republic Square with line 1 and at Arena with line 2.
Once the project documentation is developed and the construction of line 3 is completed, Belgrade will have an integrated public transport system comprising three metro lines, seven BG train lines, and other city transport connections. This will significantly enhance public transportation in the capital and improve the overall quality of life for citizens, contributing to the comprehensive economic and technological development of the entire society.
