Deal on Alpine-Western Balkan corridor sealed

By signing a memorandum of understanding, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Serbia have stated their intent to build a new European rail corridor, Austrian Minister of Transport, Innovation and Technology Alois Stoger.

The new corridor should first be established for rail freight transport thereby considerably facilitating all aspects of the cross-border traffic, reads Stoger’s statement.

According to the memorandum, the Alpine-Western Balkan corridor will join the EU Trans-European Networks.

The connections with the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and the Danube Corridor will make this section even more important, Stoger said.
