The Delta City shopping center in New Belgrade is set to expand by an additional 10,000 square meters, according to the Detailed Regulation Plan currently available for early public review.
The plan, published by the City of Belgrade, covers the plot where Delta City—Serbia’s first modern shopping mall—currently stands. Located in Block 67 on Jurija Gagarina Street, the shopping center presently includes a ground floor and two additional levels.
The site currently offers around 1,200 parking spaces, primarily housed within a garage that spans one underground and five above-ground levels.
Planned expansion
The proposed expansion focuses on enhancing the mall’s commercial capacity. This includes the addition of new retail units, a recreation center, and dining facilities. The new section will be constructed as an added floor, ensuring that existing green and open areas on the plot remain untouched.
The plan also confirms that the building’s height—currently under 27 meters—will still remain within the legal limit of 37 meters after construction. The maximum allowed structure is ground floor plus eight floors and an attic or an extra floor.
Once the expansion is complete, the mall’s total area will increase to 65,000 square meters. The garage will also grow by 1,000 square meters, bringing its total area to 9,000 square meters.
Job growth expected
The number of people employed at Delta City is expected to increase from 1,400 to 1,600 following the expansion.
Built in 2007, Delta City holds the distinction of being the first shopping mall of its kind in Serbia. This new development marks a significant step in its evolution to meet growing consumer demand in the capital.
