Development of free zones in Serbia

The World Free Zone Organization intends to open a regional office in Belgrade, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali announced after a meeting with Muhammad Al Zaroni, chairman of the board of directors, and Samir Hamruni, executive director.

The meeting discussed further development of free zones in Serbia, and Minister Mali, referring to Serbia’s macroeconomic results, pointed out that GDP growth in the third quarter of this year was 4.8 percent, which is the highest growth in Europe.

The minister also said that Serbia was an absolute record holder in terms of foreign direct investment, and that in the first seven months it had 43 percent more foreign direct investment than in the same period last year.

The minister emphasized the importance of cooperation with the World Free Zone Organization, which can contribute to even more investors.

Representatives of the World Free Zone Organization praised the results achieved by the Government of Serbia and emphasized that it was a successful economic story, writes Studio B.
