Nikola Jovanović, the director of the Center for Local Self-Government (CLS), expressed concerns over the 25 billion dinar purchase of 100 trams for Belgrade’s public transport system, calling the price “illogical.”

He pointed out that the issue is not just the high cost but also the decision to purchase “short” trams, which are up to 20 meters long. Jovanović argued that paying for these smaller trams at the price of longer ones is unacceptable.

He specifically noted that this decision will negatively impact residents of New Belgrade and users of bus lines 7 and 9, which require larger trams to accommodate higher passenger capacities.
