The Consumers’ Association Efektiva has reported that a number of consumers are receiving drastically increased electricity bills. The cause, they explain, is not actual meter readings for May, but rather estimated (flat-rate) billing.
“This method ‘pushes’ consumers into a more expensive tariff, causing double damage: they pay for more kilowatt-hours and pay a higher price for them. A similar situation occurs when a bill arrives with unread consumption, meaning only fixed charges need to be paid. In that case, it is also essential to file a complaint, because by staying silent, the consumer risks receiving a significantly higher bill next time, with a more expensive tariff,” Efektiva stated.
They emphasized that consumers should submit a written complaint requesting a bill correction. Complaints are usually directed to EPS, but Efektiva advises sending them directly to EDS to speed up the process. According to their information, EDS resolves such cases promptly. Complaints can be sent via email to prigovori@es.rs.
