Dulic: EUR 500 million will be invested in construction industry this year

The government will invest over EUR 500 million in the construction sector this year, Serbian Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic stated in Novi Pazar, south-west Serbia, on Monday, when he opened the reconstruction works at the city stadium and the local office of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers.

“We intend to invest over EUR 500 million in big apartment blocks, construction of low-cost flats and other activities in which the authorities did not invest enough funds over the past 30 years,” the minister pointed out.

He noted that several hundred construction sites are open at this moment as part of the government programme of assistance for the area of construction industry which will cover the implementation of some 240 projects. Dulic said that construction of around 1.700 low-cost flats should start this year in 17 municipalities in Serbia.

The minister stated that the reconstruction of the Novi Pazar stadium is a state project worth around EUR 2 million and added that Novi Pazar companies have been hired for this job, which would create new jobs for several hundred locals.
