French energy company EDF has confirmed it is not abandoning new nuclear projects abroad, including its cooperation with Serbia. The clarification follows Reuters reports suggesting a partial withdrawal from some foreign ventures and planned staff reductions.
Speaking to the “Nuclear Perspective” portal, EDF reaffirmed its commitment to positioning itself in new nuclear reactor projects outside France, with full support from the French government. The company cited its recent decision to back the Sizewell C twin-EPR project in the UK as an example.
EDF said it will continue promoting its reactor technologies (EPR, EPR1200, Nuward) and maintaining a strong international presence, which it considers vital for sustaining its supply chain, including partners like Arabelle Solutions and Framatome. While focusing on profitability, EDF emphasized it remains engaged in international nuclear activities.
