EPS lists top 20 debtors owing over 22 billion dinars, including major companies and public enterprises

The Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) today published a list of the 20 largest debtors, who, as of April 25, 2025, owe more than 22.33 billion dinars. Among the largest debtors are Smederevo Steelworks, Serbian Railway Infrastructure, Energetika from Kragujevac, the Public Enterprise for Coal Exploitation, Politika, and Infostan, with individual debts exceeding one billion dinars each.

The debt of Smederevo Steelworks amounts to over 6.2 billion dinars, while Serbian Railway Infrastructure follows with a debt of 3.3 billion dinars.

Energetika from Kragujevac owes 2.33 billion dinars, the Public Enterprise for Coal Exploitation owes 2.29 billion dinars, Politika’s debt is valued at 1.41 billion dinars, and Infostan’s debt is just over 1.12 billion dinars.

Other major debtors that are not in bankruptcy or liquidation include Belgrade Water Supply and Sewerage, with a debt of 718 million dinars, JPKP Lazarevac with 543 million dinars, Belgrade Power Plants with 333 million dinars, and the Partizan Water Polo Club, which owes 300 million dinars, the same amount as the city of Novi Pazar.

The receivable from Politika AD Belgrade, as of July 27, 2024, is covered by a legally binding approved Restructuring Plan (UPPR), which defines the conversion of the debt into equity, and this will be implemented after the issuance of shares by Politika AD Belgrade and their transfer to EPS’s ownership account.
