Electricity from the future wind farms “Alibunar 1” and “Alibunar 2”, with a combined capacity of 168 megawatts, will be purchased by Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS). Contracts regarding the market premium, electricity purchase, and balance responsibility assumption were signed by DuÅ¡an Živković, the general director of EPS, and Lazar Lazendić, a representative of the companies “Windvision Windfarm A” and “Windvision Windfarm B.”
DuÅ¡an Živković emphasized EPS’s commitment to investing in renewable energy sources and how this move strengthens their product portfolio and market position. He also stressed the importance of supporting all investors in renewable energy sources (RES). “EPS will purchase all the electricity generated, ensuring that this energy remains in Serbia. The purchase and balancing prices will be set based on market principles, which benefits investors and allows EPS to generate additional profits. This energy will significantly contribute to the security of our electric power system, ensuring reliable supply for both citizens and industries,” said Živković.
He went on to explain that, as a result of two auction rounds, EPS secured an additional 850 megawatts of renewable energy capacity from wind and solar projects. In total, independent producers in Serbia have added 2.6 gigawatts of installed capacity from renewable sources, and by 2028, the power from self-balanced power plants, developed in collaboration with a strategic partner, will add another 1 gigawatt, bringing the share of RES production in total electricity generation to 50 percent.
Fugi Zhou, the founder and owner of “Windvision Windfarm A” and “Windvision Windfarm B,” shared his optimism about the projects, noting, “The ‘Alibunar 1’ and ‘Alibunar 2’ wind farms are very important to our company, and this is our first project in Serbia. We recognize the country’s potential in renewable energy, particularly wind power, and see it as a valuable investment. We hope this project marks the beginning of more such ventures, and we look forward to a successful collaboration with local partners to enhance the country’s energy security.”
