The Joint Consultative Committee of the European Union and Serbia met in Belgrade, where it adopted a proposal aimed at simplifying procedures and enhancing the operations of Western Balkan companies on the European market, according to the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS).
The proposal, discussed and approved during the meeting at the PKS premises, states that when a country fully aligns its regulations in a particular sector or area with EU standards, this alignment will apply to the entire Western Balkans region.
Nenad Đurđević, advisor to the president of the PKS, explained that under this proposal, a company meeting the highest European standards will no longer need additional certifications to sell its products in other Western Balkan countries, as is the case currently.
Đurđević highlighted that this measure would encourage all countries in the Western Balkans to quickly adopt European standards in various sectors and ensure compliance with these regulations.
“This measure acts as a stimulus for all governments in the Western Balkans to harmonize their regulations with those of the EU as swiftly as possible, allowing them to fully participate in the European Union’s single market,” Đurđević stated.
