The European Union (EU) will this year earmark EUR 85 million for an upgrade of Serbia’s transport network, out of the total of around EUR 200 million allocated to the country annually, it was said in a meeting on transport on Wednesday.

The transport sector, with the assistance received from the EU and bilateral partners so far, should increase its share in Serbia’s GDP from eight to ten percent by 2017, State Secretary at the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Dejan Trifunovic said.

The project is worth EUR 1.75 million and will be implemented in the next two years, Trifunovic said reports Tanjug.
