The decision on expanding the gas storage Banatski Dvor will be made in the final quarter of the current year, says Dusan Bajatovic for Novosti.

He says that various technical and economic studies are being carried out at the moment and that the expansion, following the official approval by the Government of Serbia, might begin as early as 2017. Alternative gas sources have been on the Government’s work schedule for the past year and a half, Aleksandar Vucic said as well. He invited those who had suggestions to present them to him. We will expand the storage space. The goal is to have two billion cubic meters of gas reserves. If we reach that, the country is secure – Vucic said and added that Serbia had three to four months’ worth of reserves, but that there was no political solution. Serbia currently needs around two billion cubic meters of gas a year, and in 10 years, Vucic said, when the industrial production is expected to increase, 3.5 billion cubic meters will be needed.
