Danilo Jerinić, Director of Expo 2027 Belgrade, clarified that participant privileges at the Expo are not unique to the Belgrade event but are standard obligations under international law.
He noted that the 1928 Paris Convention, establishing the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), sets host country responsibilities, including customs exemptions for temporary import of equipment, materials, and exhibits, as well as VAT refunds and simplified visa procedures. Jerinić emphasized that these measures are mandatory for all host countries, citing examples from Osaka, Kazakhstan, and Dubai.
“The Convention provides minimum conditions to ensure a smooth and productive stay for participants, allowing countries to focus on successfully presenting at the Expo,” he said.
Jerinić also highlighted Expo 2027 Belgrade as a major opportunity for economic, scientific, and cultural exchange, promising international visitors a warm and welcoming experience across the city.
