Farmers are announcing a protest for Thursday, News
Several associations of farmers from Vojvodina, Macva, Sumadija and Pomoravlje called on farmers to express their dissatisfaction with the two-hour protest drive of tractors on Thursday, February 24, at 10 am, because the Government of Serbia ignores their demands.
The president of the Association of Agricultural Associations of Banat, Dragan Kleut, said that on February 14, the Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, received requests from farmers, who have remained without their reaction to this day.
Our demands are the abolition of excise duties on euro diesel for registered agricultural holdings, subsidies of 200 euros per hectare, regular and fast payment of subsidies, payment of all outstanding unpaid subsidies and payment of all future subsidies within 45 to 60 days from the date of application, import regulation “frozen meat from abroad and uncontrolled import of milk powder,” said Kleut.
He emphasized that the farmers will protest until the Government adopts their package of measures for the recovery of agriculture.
Kleut said that the organizers of the local protests have so far confirmed that protest rides with tractors and blockades will be held in Zrenjanin, Srbobran, Itebej, Zitiste, Sabac, Raca, Dolovo, Blace and Rocevici on Thursday, and that similar actions have been announced in a dozen more municipality, Nova reports.
