Direct damage and losses caused by the catastrophic floods in May total around EUR 1.5bn, according to the first official Serbian government report.
The report will be presented at a donor conference in Brussels on July 16.
The report puts direct damage at EUR 810.1 million and losses at EUR 661.9 million, Tanjug reported.
Two-thirds of the total direct damage and losses are sustained by the production sector and stand at approximately EUR 1.07 billion, including the damage of around half a billion EUR and the losses of EUR 569.4 million.
Agriculture suffered the most damage and losses, estimated to EUR 107.9 and EUR 120.1 million, respectively. The damage caused to trade amounts to EUR 169.6 million and the losses to EUR 55.2 million.
The estimated damage to the social sectors, comprising housing, healthcare, education and culture, stands at EUR 34.6 million and the losses at EUR 7.1 million.
The damage caused to residential buildings is EUR 227.3 million, while the losses stand at EUR 3.7 million. The damage in the healthcare sector is estimated to EUR 3 million and the losses to EUR 2.7 million.
The consequences of floods for the area of infrastructure, which includes transport, communications and water supply, are estimated to cost EUR 192.1 million, with the damage accounting for EUR 117.3 million and the losses for EUR 74.8 million.
Estimates say that the most affected sector was transport, where the damage stands at EUR 96 million and the losses at 70.4 million.
In the areas of environment and public administration, the estimated damage is EUR 17.2 million, and the losses EUR 10.6 million.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlović told Tanjug that the report on damages and losses caused by the floods was compiled by special teams who worked on the ground with experts from international organizations.
The report will be presented at a donor conference in Brussels on July 16, said Mihajlovic, adding that Serbia counts on donors’ assistance in the repair process, but also on favorable loans, primarily when it comes to the repair of the road and rail infrastructure.
