Serbian pharmaceutical company Galenika has completed the acquisition of the Slovenian firm Sanofarm, strengthening its regional presence and expanding its portfolio in the dietary supplements and natural health products segment.
Sanofarm was founded in 2003 and is based in Izola, Slovenia. The company specialises in the import and distribution of dietary supplements and natural products, primarily sourced from Italian manufacturers. Through this transaction, Galenika has taken full ownership of Sanofarm and assumed the role of exclusive distributor for selected international brands in the Slovenian market, as well as for part of the product portfolio in Croatia.
In 2024, Sanofarm generated revenues of approximately €3.9 million, recording a net profit of around €326,000, slightly below the company’s financial performance in the previous year. The company does not have operational or commercial activities in North Macedonia.
Galenika operates two pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in Serbia, producing more than 250 pharmaceutical products across a broad range of therapeutic categories. The company has been under private ownership since 2017, when it was acquired from the Serbian state and subsequently integrated into an international pharmaceutical group.
The acquisition of Sanofarm reflects Galenika’s strategy of expanding beyond traditional pharmaceuticals into higher-growth segments such as dietary supplements and natural health products, while using established regional distribution networks to reinforce its market position in Central and Southeast Europe.
