Germany willing to assist in infrastructure projects

Germany is willing to take part and assist in important infrastructure projects in Serbia, German Ambassador in Belgrade Heinz Wilhelm said in a meeting with Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbia’s deputy prime minister and minister of construction, transport and infrastructure.

Mihajlovic and Wilhelm talked about cooperation between the two countries in the sectors of transport and infrastructure and the adoption of a new law on planning and construction at the Serbian government on Monday, reads a release published on the Serbian ministry’s website.

Mihajlovic thanked Wilhelm for the assistance and support that Germany has been offering to Serbia in the reform and EU accession process, and placed a special emphasis on good cooperation with the German organization GIZ on projects aimed at stepping up energy efficiency of facilities.

At the meeting, the officials agreed that the agreement on passenger and freight transport that was signed between Serbia and Germany, but was not ratified in the Serbian parliament due to the general elections, should be sent back to the parliament.
Amendments to the law on planning and construction, which are due to be passed by the end of July, were also addressed during the talks.

Mihajlovic noted that, in the previous period, the working group tasked with preparing the document adopted certain suggestions made by the German side, the release notes.
