The Government of Serbia has adopted a package of draft laws in the energy sector in response to the current situation in that field, according to a statement issued after session.
The approved legislation includes the Draft Law on Oil, the Draft Law on Gas, and the Draft Law on Mandatory Reserves of Oil, Oil Derivatives and Natural Gas. The purpose of these laws, the Government explained, is to enhance the security, quality and reliability of energy supply and to align Serbia’s regulatory framework with European Union standards.
At the same session, the Government also approved a decision granting prior consent for the establishment of Gas Infrastructure Novi Sad, a new limited liability company. Under this decision, the newly formed company will own Serbia’s gas infrastructure in accordance with internationally accepted obligations, while the public enterprise Srbijagas — which has managed the infrastructure until now — will continue to supply the domestic gas market.
