Today, the Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, talked with the representatives of the Association of Oil Companies of Serbia (UNKS) about security of supply, operational reserves of oil derivatives and the oil market in Serbia.
She pointed out that it is in the mutual interest of cooperation and finding solutions that are acceptable to both the state and oil companies, the Ministry of Mining and Energy announced.
“The state does not aim to remove operational stocks, it is in our interest to have reserves, but we are open to discuss with you the conditions that are acceptable to everyone. We are moving to amend the Energy Law and I believe there is room to revise some things together taking into account EU directives,” said Mihajlovic.
UNKS representatives pointed out that the introduction of the obligation to form and maintain operational reserves affects the price of fuel and market competition.
“Given the valuable experience we have in the market, we believe that as an association we can make a great contribution to creating a business environment that will ensure a secure supply of the Serbian market under the most favorable conditions for consumers, energy entities and society as a whole,” said UNKS General Secretary Tomislav Micevic.
He asked the Minister to consider the justification of the required operational reserves of derivatives.
The meeting also discussed the storage and transport of fuel at internal gas stations, the excise taxation of energy, as well as the obligation to trade in biofuels, Dnevnik reports.
