HERE Technologies, a global leader in digital mapping and location services, will begin mapping parts of Serbia this spring using high-precision three-dimensional (3D) technology. This initiative is part of their mission to create the world’s most advanced and up-to-date digital maps.
As part of this project, HERE will collect detailed road data and capture street-level panoramic imagery across Serbia. This data will contribute to the development of rich, detailed maps intended to support highly autonomous vehicles and other advanced technologies aimed at enhancing road safety, reducing traffic congestion, and improving navigation in urban areas.
Throughout the upcoming months, specialized vehicles equipped with 3D mapping technology will operate on major roads and within certain cities across Serbia. These vehicles will collect data without disrupting traffic flow, ensuring a smooth process for drivers and pedestrians.
To ensure privacy, HERE takes extensive measures to protect sensitive information. Panoramic imagery is initially stored within the vehicle and later encrypted before being transmitted to secure facilities for processing. Advanced algorithms are then used to detect and blur faces and license plates, ensuring that no personal data is exposed. Only images with blurred personal information are published.
