High living costs, corruption and the lack of democracy and rule of law are the greatest problems facing young people in Serbia, according to preliminary data from the Alternative Report by the National Youth Organization of Serbia (KOMS).

Compared to 2020 and 2024, education — previously at the top of young people’s concerns — is no longer seen as the main issue. This shift signals that young people are increasingly focusing on broader, systemic problems that affect all aspects of society, including education.

The absence of education from the Top 3 issues doesn’t diminish its importance; instead, it highlights a move toward addressing the root causes of the country’s struggles.

The survey was conducted across Serbia from April 25 to May 5, 2025, with a representative sample of 1,259 young people, ages 15 to 30, through an online questionnaire.
