Improving business environment key to investment

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said today at the conference “The Economist: The World in 2016” that next year business environment in Serbia will be promoted, which will allow for significantly larger number of investments.

Vucic said in this context that in 2016, we expect higher growth in the private sector, as well as several capital projects and investments financed from private sources.

He also expressed hope that Serbia will next year be among the top 40 countries in the Doing Business List of the World Bank, which will generate significantly higher economic growth, and that this year will be rounded up with an economic growth of 0.9%.

The growth should be around 2% next year, the Prime Minister said and added that Serbia needs this growth, while maintaining the fiscal deficit at a low level, investment in infrastructure projects and improving the business environment.

According to Vucic, the opening of the first chapters in the negotiations with the EU will clearly pave the way to Serbia, which also means a lot more tasks that our country has to do in order to demonstrate that it is more responsible than before.

He pointed out that for Serbia, as a small country, it is important to adapt to global trends in the economy and new scientific and technological achievements.

He also expressed confidence that activities to improve the business environment will be successfully continued next year, noting that Serbia this year will end with €1.6 billion of investments.
