Inflation in July reached a record 12.8 percent

Inflation in Serbia rose to a record 12.8 percent in July, the Republic Statistical Institute announced. Inflation in Serbia has been growing at the highest rate since July last year, while in the years before the Covid-19 pandemic, inflation was stable.

The prices of personal consumption products and services in July 2022, compared to June 2022, increased by 1.0 percent on average. Consumer prices in July 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year, increased by 12.8 percent, while compared to December 2021, they increased by 8.4 percent on average.

Observed by the main groups of products and services classified according to the purpose of consumption, in July 2022, compared to the previous month, price growth was recorded in the groups Recreation and culture (3.2 percent), Transport (2.3 percent), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.0 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (1.9 percent). The drop in prices was recorded in the Food and non-alcoholic beverages group (-0.1 percent), Bloomberg Adria reports.
